Meet Our Counselors

Angie Johnson

MS, LAPC, RYT

I believe therapy should feel like a place where you can exhale, feel understood, and begin making sense of what you’ve been carrying. My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in the belief that healing happens through connection, self-understanding, and learning how to respond to life with greater awareness and compassion.

My own life has been shaped by travel, change, and learning to create a sense of home in different places. I have lived and worked across the United States, Australia, Turkiye, and Europe, and those experiences have deeply influenced the way I understand people, relationships, identity, and major life transitions. Living between cultures has given me a personal appreciation for what it can feel like to start over, adapt to unfamiliar environments, navigate cultural differences, rebuild community, and figure out who you are when life changes around you.

Because of this, I feel especially connected to clients who are navigating transitions—whether that means moving, changing careers, adjusting to a new relationship or family dynamic, experiencing burnout, rebuilding after a difficult period, or simply realizing that the life they have been living no longer feels like the one they want.

I work with adolescents, adults, and families experiencing anxiety, trauma, stress, emotional overwhelm, relationship and family challenges, self-esteem concerns, and significant life changes. Many of the people I work with are thoughtful and capable people who have become accustomed to holding everything together for everyone else. Therapy can become a space where they finally have permission to slow down, listen to themselves, and explore what they need.

My clinical background includes specialized training and experience in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Multidimensional Family Therapy (MDFT), Motivational Interviewing, person-centered therapy, and solution-focused approaches. Rather than following a one-size-fits-all model, I draw from these approaches based on each person's experiences, personality, needs, and goals.

I am also deeply interested in the connection between the mind and body. Stress, trauma, and difficult life experiences do not always show up only in our thoughts. They may appear as tension, exhaustion, restlessness, difficulty slowing down, feeling disconnected from yourself, or constantly feeling as though you need to be “on.” Depending on your needs and comfort level, our work may incorporate grounding, mindfulness, breathwork, nervous-system regulation, and gentle somatic or mind-body practices alongside traditional talk therapy.

In addition to my clinical mental health training, I am a 200-hour trained yoga teacher and professional coach. My experiences in mental health, coaching, yoga, travel, and living internationally have all shaped my belief that emotional well-being is connected to the way we live, move, relate to others, understand ourselves, and care for our bodies.

I also bring a genuine curiosity about people's stories and the experiences that have shaped them. Living in different countries has taught me that there is rarely only one “right” way to build a life, a family, a relationship, or a sense of self. I value cultural differences and enjoy working with people whose lives, relationships, or identities may cross cultures, countries, or traditional expectations.

Most importantly, I want you to feel that you can be yourself in the therapy room. You do not need to arrive with everything figured out or have the perfect words to describe what you are experiencing. We can start wherever you are.

My role is not to tell you who you should become. It is to walk alongside you as you better understand yourself, recognize patterns that may no longer serve you, reconnect with your strengths, and create meaningful change that feels authentic to the life you want to build.

Ready to take the next step? Send me a message, and I’ll gladly offer a free consultation to discuss how we can work together.
